Akira's car is a 2.0 VS 6-speed automatic model finished in Sunlight Silver. This car is from the Kanagawa region of Japan and features a good mix of genuine Mazda accessory parts and aftermarket additions. Being a VS grade the car has a black and tan interior with a tan coloured soft top.
The front of the car has the Mazda appearance package lip spoiler fitted. This gives the front end a lower and more aggressive style and combined with the Nopro headlamp eyelids helps the car stand out. The Nopro headlight trims have a different design than others on the market to give the headlights a unique look. The car's rear end features the Mazda lower bumper lip and Nopro bootlid ducktail spoiler together with custom Mazdaspeed tailpipes.
This car also has the optional detachable hardtop which when fitted gives the car a sleek coupe look that really works with the ducktail spoiler and looks great. The wheels are a set of 9J wide 18" Work XSA 02C, fitted with 255/35/18 Dunlop Direzza tyres. The factory rollbar trim pieces have been removed to show the bar underneath.
The interior is fitted with a pair of Recaro seats, some aluminium trim pieces from Artworks/Dewa, a Nardi classic steering wheel, Nardi gearknob, and several additional gauges fitted into the centre air vents and around the dash.
Performance modifications carried out include a Beatrush rear tower brace, Rigid front brace with integrated brake cylinder stopper, Tein Flex adjustable coilovers, RX-8 anti-roll bars, Joy Fast big bore throttle, HKS induction kit with Nopro enclosure and AutoExe airscoop, Cosworth performance camshafts, HKS stainless manifold, HKS Super Fire sparkplugs, and Dixcel slotted brake discs with Dixcel M-Type pads.
