The MX-5 Blue Design was a 2007 special edition for the French market. This model is fairly rare with a limited production of just 75. The car was a 126Bhp 1.8 5-speed model with exclusive light grey leather seats as well as some extras over the regular 1.8. As the name suggests, the Blue Design was only available in Stormy Blue Mica. It's similar to the UK's Icon model of the same period.
At 24,000 Euro the Blue Design and was priced above a standard 1.8 with the option pack (or elegance pack as it was known in France), representing the additional cost of exclusivity. The additional equipment included the following:
- DSC with traction control
- Front fog lights
- Clear headlights (no orange indicator lens)
- Automatic air conditioning
- Light grey leather seats and door trim
- Exterior chrome trim (front grille, side repeaters, and door handles)
- Silver dashboard trim panel
- Engraved plate with build number
- Exclusive "Blue Design" front wing badge
