Michael's Carbon Vinyl NC

Michael's MX-5 started life as a 2005 6-speed model finished in Winning Blue. It was purchased to use as a demo car to showcase the work of Australian vinyl specialists Carbon Demon.

The car had 17" Enkei Klamp wheels in black with a red lip, and a K&N panel filter when it was bought, but since then has been fitted with a number of upgrades. The first step was to lower the ride height with some Tein Flex adjustable coilovers. Since the car would see action on track, some additional chassis bracing from IL Motorsport was fitted along with EBC Redstuff pads.

The Enkei Klamp wheels were later changed for Enkei RPF1 and fitted with Advan AD08 trackday tyres for extra grip. Inside there are a pair of Autotechnica A999 racing bucket seats. These were fitted to the standard seat rail and allow the driver to sit 25mm lower in the car. There is also a double din navigation system fitted using a Metro fascia adaptor kit.

The biggest transformation was in the form of a full body vinyl wrap by Carbon Demon Australia. Hexis vinyl wrap was used on the entire car and painstakingly fitted so that the carbon weave would match up across panels. As well as giving the car a unique look, the vinyl wrap also provides protection for the factory paint on the racetrack. Michael took the car to several car shows in Sydney, where it was well received by the public.
