The SG Limited model was a late 2002 special edition for the Japanese market. The car was available as a 1.6 5-speed manual based on the NR-A trim, or a 1.8 6-speed manual based on the RS trim. Both models feature a BOSE stereo, large brakes, Bilstein suspension, full chassis bracing, and a Torsen brand limited-slip differential. This edition introduced a new colour, Cerrion Silver Metallic, and unique blue interior with matching roof. 1.8 models featured a unique design 5-spoke 16" alloy wheel. Production was limited to 400.
A version of the SG Limited was sold in the UK as the Nevada edition. This special edition was offered in two colours, the Cerrion Silver and the new Strato Blue Mica. Each had a contrasting roof and interior using the other car's colour; blue for the silver body, and light grey for the blue body. Like the SG Limited, Nevada was offered with both 1.6 and 1.8 engines. Buyers who opted for the 1.8 could specify heated leather seats over the standard cloth for an extra £500. Altogether there were 2050 Nevada models available.
The Nevada edition was based on a standard model MX-5 rather than the Sport trim, so had a 5-speed gearbox, standard suspension, and regular differential. It did get the larger brakes, which can be seen in the Japanese brochure. Nardi steering wheel and gear knob, remote central locking and stainless scuff plates were standard on both the 1.6 and 1.8 models, as were the 16" alloy wheels. The exterior "Nevada" front wing badges depended on the body colour, silver had a blue badge, blue cars had silver.
A European version of this car was called the MX-5 Silver Blues, the USA version was the 2003 Special Edition, and in Australia this car was the Classic edition.
