For the 2015 Sneakerness convention in Paris, Mazda teamed up with Japanese shoemaker ASICS (formerly Onitsuka Tiger) to promote both the new MX-5 and a new running shoe. The idea being that lightweight design is best for trainers and for a sportscar. The partnership is intended to highlight similarties in the two companies' approach to product design. A pair of Soul Red MX-5s were given vinyl wrap liveries to match the design of Asics' new Gel Lyte III shoe.
