The MX-5 Miata Launch Edition is the first of the 4th generation special edition models to be unveiled. Initially announced as pre-order only for the USA market, this edition was limited to 1000 cars. This model's unique selling point is the combination of Soul Red exterior with Sport Tan interior.
This model is based on the 2.0 Grand Touring specification which was the top of the range in the American market. Launch Edition was available with both a manual and automatic transmission. The Grand Touring spec includes 17-inch alloy wheels, heated seats, automatic climate control, satellite radio, Mazda Connect entertainment system with navigation, 9 Bose speakers, i-Activsense safety equipment including blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning and automatic high-beam control.
The only paint colour choice is the Soul Red metallic. The sandy tan leather is available on other models but the combination of red exterior and tan interior is exclusive to this Launch Edition, at least in the USA. In other markets there is no such restriction, the tan leather just costs a little extra (£200 in the UK).
Successful pre-orders received a complimentary Bose SoundLink bluetooth speaker complete with Mazda branding and gift box, along with select items from Mazda's Heritage clothing collection. And of course the knowledge you were one of the first in the USA to own the new Miata.
