The MX-5 Classic was a late 1997 special edition for the UK market. This was one of the last first generation specials before the introduction of the NB model.
The Classic was based on the standard 1.8i car. Standard specification included power steering, immobiliser, RDS radio cassette stereo, and 3rd brake light. The Classic model was given a couple of extra features to help it stand out. The exterior featured Brilliant Black paintwork with "Classic" badges on the front wings and distinctive 15" alloy wheels.
Inside, there were black leather seat facings with red contrast stitching, wood trim around the dashboard, special edition carpet mats, MX-5 branded stainless sill plates, a polished stainless rear brace bar, and black leather MOMO steering wheel. Prices started at £17,495 with 400 available.
