The MX-5 Harvard was a special edition for the UK market available during 1997. The car takes its name from the prestigious Massachusetts university. This edition was priced from £17,495 with 500 cars available.
Based on the standard 1.8i, the Harvard edition benefits from a unique colour combination of Silver Stone metallic paint with a dark red interior. There are dark red leather seat facings with grey trim and matching door panels. A leather three spoke MOMO steering wheel, MX-5 logo stainless sill plates, wood dashboard trim, Harvard branded carpet mats, and a polished cabin brace bar complete the interior.
The exterior features 15" five spoke alloy wheels and special Harvard badges. Optional extras included a matching hardtop, Mazda Guard alarm system, and a boot mounted CD multi-changer.
A similar silver/red colour combination was seen on the later Jasper Conran edition of the second generation MX-5.
