It doesn't take much to turn the friendly looking MX-5 Miata into a much more purposeful looking machine. As with any roadster project this car began as stock and has changed over time with new performance and styling upgrades. Eugene's 2006 NC is a great example of how some choice genuine parts can transform an already fun car into an enthusiast's dream. This car is used to compete in AutoX events in New Jersey, USA as well as the occasional daily commute.
The exterior makes a real statement with the combination of front grille and lower lip spoiler both from Garage Vary. The headlight eyelid trims were sourced from Carbon Miata and give the car a more aggressive appearance over stock. This change really suits the Brilliant Black paintwork with blacked out Mazda wings badge. The front end is finished off nicely with a set of canards from Integral Kobe. These styling modifications really help the car stand out from the crowd at events.
Moving around to the side we find some small skirt extensions from eBay and some stunning ADVAN TC-4 17" alloy wheels with polished lip. The wheels are 8" wide and are wrapped in 215/45/17 Kumho Ecsta PS31 tyres. For a bit of colour against the black paint Eugene has added decals from Tein, AutoExe, ADVAN, and a little nod to Gran Turismo above the race number. The hardtop is an aftermarket lightweight fibreglass version from DG Motorsports with rainrails above the side windows.
The rear of the car is fitted with a large GT style wing from Odula paired with a small lip spoiler sourced from eBay. Lower down we can see a section of the bumper has been cut away to reveal the single exit Roadster Sport muffler from Goodwin Racing, and the bright red uprated rear sway bar from Racing Beat.
With the car being used for twisty timed events, the handling has been improved thanks to Tein Monosport adjustable suspension, with the added benefit of a much nicer ride height. Like the rear, the front end also benefits from a stronger Racing Beat sway bar with adjustable links by Flyin' Miata. Eugene has also fitted stronger front and rear strut braces from AutoExe in the usual bright red finish. Braking is provided by Stoptech slotted discs with uprated pads and some Techna-Fit stainless steel braided brake lines.
Engine performance has been upgraded with an AutoExe induction kit paired with a Goodwin Racing sports exhaust manifold and software remap by Fab9 tuning. The interior hasn't been left behind and benefits from a Track Dog Racing M3 Sport rollbar, Beatrush shifter, Corbeau Forza driver'seat, and some Tein Drift II harnesses in signature green colour.
